Real Madrid vs PSG (3-1)

Everyone expected this match to either be one that would shake the football world or just another day in the office for Cristiano and his right foot. Somehow it took the Spanish side some time to show why they are still favorites to take the championship.

PSG went into the game as underdogs, as most teams would against the Spanish bulls and grabbed them by the horns from the starting minute. The French side had Madrid on the back foot for the first 30 minutes of the game and were rewarded for their efforts with a goal in the 33rd minute. The French side kept the pressure on and looked to enter the changing rooms at half time 1 goal up, but on the brink of half time there was some sloppy play from the Parisians, giving away a careless penalty which evened the half time score.

Coming out for the second half there was everything to play for from both sides. PSG’s defense was spectacular for the third quarter of the game, making breathtaking saves and everyone was starting to think that the game would have to be settled in Paris. However, in the last 10 minutes the Parisians started to show some fatigue and Madrid were all over them getting two late goals sending PSG home to reassess their gameplay.

With PSG having a home game for the final leg plus that precious away goal, they do have a slight advantage over their rivals. Winning 4 of their last 5 matches they will want to go into the match focused and determined to upset the applecart, but having a few in-house issues regarding a key player might set the team back in this crucial knockout game.

On the other hand, Madrid will go into the next match with one known purpose, to confine PSG and smother them in front of their home fans. Madrid will be entering the match with confidence after winning 4 of their last 5 games, the other being a draw. However, it won’t be an easy game for them as one wrong move and they could be sent home with nothing but Cristiano’s dirty boots.

Bookmakers prediction: PSG to win by 1 - Madrid to progress to the next round
